Re: How to change the system drive letter in Windows XP
Hi!
Instead of dangerous registry hack (i think) it's easier to simply partition you hard drive at first boot from USB, and then reboot and restart the installer.
If the XP installer detects a partition on your hard drive, that will become C:, and the install source (USB/CD/DVD) become the first available letter.
To clarify:
If you have a totally empty hard drive:
1. Boot up from your install source.
2. If the install source became to C:, then continue the installer until it asks where to install.
3. With the hotkey (as i remember L, but it shows on the bottom) create a partition on the hard drive.
4. Reboot your computer, restart the installer.
5. Now the first hard drive partition became C:.
That's it!
