I too had the BSOD on my HP Mini 2140 after I replace the ntdetect file.

I resolve the BSOD problem by going into the BIOS:
System Configuration > Device Configuration >
Disable Data Execution Prevention,
Disable SATA Native Mode.

Cheers

not only ntdetect.com needs to be replaced.. i've been making bootable usb for a while.. manually and with help of other tools..

i've been searching for a tool "all in one" like your product to automate must taks and integrade latest windows also, i tried to use wintoflash to see how it goes for XP installation but it fails.... 0x000007B BSOD

you need to replaced also the ramdisk.sys (RAMDISK.SY_) with the one used in windows 2003 not matter the edition. i remember also replaced the SETUPLDR.BIN but not sure if its neccesary.

all the information about this is documented in these sites:

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/112630-0x0000007b-blue-screen-error-during-text-setup/

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/121205-livexp-0x0000007b-blue-screen-error-usbmultiboot/

http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=17448

i tested latest WinToFlash 0.7.0057 beta and still this bug haven't been fixed.. i tested in several machines with good speed.. for example the dell optiplex 780 and some other.. it's not matter of bios configuration.. i boot other usb memory i have prepared manually and they work OK.. the above files i mentioned needs to be replaced in their corresponding directories where they are.

i have uploaded the files i always replaced and my installs never fail.

here are:

i hope you'll improve wintoflash since it could be very usefull and a working/fast way to create bootable usb.

My Best Regards

but that error is not about registry or corruption is a problem handling the memory resources.. while installing.. we're talking about installling windows

I solved this problem by changing the SATA drive READ setup to IDE for the installation

Enter your bios setup - naviage to the drive setups and change your drive that you are going to install to IDE rather and SATA (assuming you have a sata drive)
Worked for me as soon as I did it

I am installing winxp to a acer ASPIRE ONE onto my new SSD.
Only thing I can say is that the install process from USB to the SSD is .... SSSLLLLOOOOWWWW

Hope this helps

Worked for me changing SATA to "Native IDE" in the BIOS of my Asus EEE PC Seashell Series - thanks for the tip!

Thanks Mike.

I was stuck in trying to install -- using a memory stick -- a new copy of XP on a HP d230MT because of that BSOD; I did upgrade the BIOS but it still does have all hard drives options grayed out.

Worked like a charm :-)
