BSoD show because XP doesn't support sata with AHCI or RAID controller
there are 2 solution
1. set your computer sata controller to "compatible" in bios
2. integrated sata AHCI or RAID controller in your XP installer, you can use nLITE for that

Worked for me! :D Thanks guy, without it WinToFlash was just a waste of time.

With it - WOO HOO - Windows installation is much, much faster than off a CD. Together with nLite (http://www.nliteos.com/) this makes windows installations a breeze instead of a chore. Well done to all involved.

Too bad I can't vote in the "survey" form at the top - returns "invalid form" error :-(

I am also getting this error
I tried replacing the ntdetect.com file, no help
I took a look in the Bios, there is nothing about SATA or IDE in the bios
..its a HP mini 311-1000, its new New, so i assume it doesn't have a SATA drive

Any Ideas?

If you're getting a STOP error 0x7B during text-mode setup of XP, try replacing the ntdetect.com file with this one.

If that doesn't fix it you can try changing the hard drive setting in BIOS or try integrating SATA drivers.

Any feedback is more than welcome.

This is because you have problems in Windows Registry. It is a common cause of Windows crashes and error messages. Registry problems can occur for many reasons, including references left behind after uninstalling, incorrect removal of software, missing or corrupt hardware drivers or orphaned start-up programs. This will significantly increase the Registry size and slow down your computer, because Windows will need more time to load, search, and read data from the Registry. HP Mini - 2009 - Hello everybody, I am trying to install windows XP Pro using Wintoflash

A straight rip from DVD drive to USB device (I did not select any particular folders from DVD) Just straight from DVD.

These are the problems that I am having

I am able to boot from USB - 1st TXT Mode, (splash screen comes up for options for the F6 and F2 options at the bottom) ....hesitates... then I get STOP: 0X0000007B (0xF7C5B63C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Then I reboot and then try to boot from the - 2nd GUI mode setup

Then comes up : "Windwos could no start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll." - Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

I am using a genuine XP Pro SP2 Disc... what do I need to do to get this thing to work correctly?

I have tried changing the BIOS settings as to how it reads the hard drive, but no option to change it from SATA to IDE... No option to change anything to COMPATIBILITY

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

You can fix these problem by following steps-

which had the following steps;

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

This fixed the problem and I was able to do this from the "safe" mode.

Dell V131
1. Change SATA operation:
1). Go to BIOS setup.
2). Select "SATA Operation"
3). Change "AHCI" to "ATA"

2. Then comes up : "Windwos could no start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll." - Please reinstall a copy of the above file.
This is because the boot.ini did not set correctly if Windows is not install at C: driver.
1) When boot from the USB disk, you will see there are many menu choices
2) Select one bye one (Exception the 1st TXT mode) until you can startup the Windows GUI installation.

3. File is corroupt when installing Windows at Tex mode
1) Format the driver with FAT format
2) Reinstall the Windows

Dell GX280 SDT P4 3.4 GHz A08 BIOS
Dell WinXP Pro SP2 CD from factory
32 Gig PNY USB Flash drive

Got Ox0000007B STOP error right before "Welcome to Windows Setup".

http://199.91.154.127/e18xehm54ymg/7qei2aj5ldn31mg/NTDETECT.COM

Substitute ntdetect.com enabled progress through INSTALL
partition functions, formatting function and file copy
functions. (Why is the Windows setup file copy function
from USB Flash to hard disk so rediculously slow? 7 HOURS?
Earlier I copied a bunch of files from the very same USB
flash on the very same computer to the very same hard disk
and it was about 60 times faster! What's up?)
