Post How-to: Install WinXP on a Zotac Zbox AD10 (without a USB CD
Things you need:
A Zotac ZBox AD10 with RAM and HDD/SSD installed but no OS.
Monitor, keyboard, mouse (obviously).
An existing PC running WinXP (with a CD/DVD drive)
A WinXP (SP2 or later) install disk
The Zotac Zbox Drivers CD
Two USB Flash drives (greater than 2 Gb) – can use one but two makes things easier

1. Download WinToFlash (http://wintoflash.com/home/en/) on existing PC, and install.
2. Use WinToFlash to install your copy of WinXP from the install disk to the first USB drive
You can just use the default settings for the install
3. Copy the contents of the Zotac drivers disk to the second USB drive.
If you only have one USB drive once you have finished the WinXP install you can wipe the WinXP disk and put the driver files on
4. With the ZBox off, insert the WinXP install USB into one of the USB2 slots on back of the ZBox
5. Turn on the ZBox, press the del key on the keyboard to enter BIOS setup.
6. Force the ZBox to boot from the USB drive.
On the Save and Exit page there is a ‘force boot device’ option, select the USB drive.
IMPORTANT. Don’t just switch the boot priority on the ‘Boot’ page of the BIOS setup. It doesn’t work.
7. Select the txt interface install option (#1)
WinXP will install to the HDD/SSD on the partition you tell it to. My SSD came pre-partitioned.
Once this has finished reboot the Zbox (maybe it does this automatically, it was late, I forget)
8. Turn on the ZBox, press the del key on the keyboard to enter setup (VERY IMPORTANT).
9. Force the ZBox to boot from the USB drive.
Use the ‘force boot device’ option again.
IMPORTANT. Don’t just switch the boot priority on the ‘Boot’ page of the BIOS setup. It doesn’t work.
10. Select the GUI interface install option (#2)
WinXP will finish installing (some user input required)
Once this has finished reboot the Zbox (pretty sure this was automatic)
You will see the WinXP startup logo, and windows will load from the HDD/SSD
11. Insert the USB drive with the Zotac drivers on it (or make one)
12. Install all the drivers. Restart as necessary.

My setup:
Zotac Zbox AD10. 4 Gb RAM. 64 Gb Crucial m4 SSD.

Questions:
Why am I writing this how-to?
Answer: The ‘force boot device’ solution. If you don’t do this you will get the hal.dll error.
Does this work for Win Vista and Win7?
Answer. I don’t know, maybe.

Win to flash is a very useful application available on the internet. It is a very cheap essay service as well for the people who are searching for such applications. I have used it many times to make a bootable USB drive to install different operating systems on different systems. Thanks a lot for sharing such information.
