Post Can it install Windows to USB?
I see this is a great program for installing windows to a machine with no optical drive. I already formatted 3 HP Minis and installed Tiny XP Rev09 with this tool. From the description of this project it aims to doing windows installlion operations without CD. Can it also install windows to usb so I can boot xp from usb? If so, which option do i choose?

Yes, you can.

When in TXT mode select the flash drive not a HDD. And it will work. Note: may be you will need additional drivers to boot from USB to USB Windows. or may be not...

I thought windows was unable to install any externa devices during install process. In a regular install in TXT mode, the usb devices dont show up.

Why not? You can see drive W: with Windows installation files - select it and Windows will install itself to this drive.

Thanks for the help, indeed installer recognizes the usb, I unplugged my internal HDDs so they dont get messed up. But when I try to install xp on the usb, I get the error

"setup must write some startup files to the following disk"
"However, this disk doesn't contain a windows XP-compatible partition."

This is the same USB drive I boot from to install Tiny XP to other mini laptops. I formatted it to FAT and FAT32 but same thing.

Well It is NOT small, tiny xp only takes 400mb space. But that is not the matter. The matter is windows doesnt let me do it and i get the error above. I dont think it is caused by wintoflash right? Any suggestion what causes this error? Can I transfer the files manually?

Yes. you can install the windows to Your usb device. but you have to 1Gb or more then the memory in your Usb device. and in which windows you want to download in your Usb. because Windows 7 takes a large memory to install it. i think 1GB is enough to install the windows.,

I recommend at least 4Gb for Windows XP.
Microsoft recommends 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space
