Hi! I was going to install windows xp on my HP dc7700, but ended up with the same problem, 0x00000069... I think it is a hardware issue, but I could be wrong. Anyone has found a fix???

But you can update your BIOS without installation of Windows XP, maybe, Hiren's BCD will help with WinPE mode?

Try boot up Hiren's anyway, if it boots and can access HDD in the laptop, we can provide a workaround for XP install.

Only good option I have is to burn the same ISO to an actual disk.

If that also errors then this will conclusively be a problem with the actual image and/or this stupid laptop. I will try that tomorrow and report back.

This laptop has a lot of odd quirks like only being able to install a BIOS upgrade from 32 bit windows (why I am trying to install XP) and an odd glitch where a hardware upgrade can completely disable entering BIOS (upgrade report screen causes BIOS exit and system boot).

Built a new image with provided NTDETECT.COM, error is unchanged.

io1_initialization_failed 0x00000069 for XP pro on R580
I am trying to install XP pro 32 bit on a Samsung R580.

The exact model number is NP-R580-JSB1US.

The chipset is HM55, the GPU is the 310M and the CPU has been upgraded from the i5-430M to the i7-640M.

Under windows 10 64 bit and windows 7 64 bit the system is 100% stable.

The XP install crashes right after the basic drivers load and windows tried to start the main install.

So far I have tried integrating the following drivers:

just the 4 port AHCI driver
all of the F6 driver package
just the 4 port AHCI driver + the complete chipset package
all of the F6 driver package + the complete chipset package

There is no difference, all 4 setups crash at the same point with the same error. I have tried installing from a USB2 and USB3 flash drive as well as both a SSD and platter drive.

If I do not add the AHCI drivers I get the more typical 0x0000007b crash at the same point.

This is not a critical project for me, just doing this for fun but I figured that you guys might be interested in this strange problem.

Let me know if you need any more info.

EDIT

Its a R580, not R850, oops.
